In the current scooter market we can see both drum and disc brakes. Usually manufacturers use drum brakes in their low budget scooters. So what should be your choice, disc/disc or drum/drum or Disc/drum or drum/drum-IBS? Lets explain a bit.

Firstly lets know the advantages and disadvantages of disc brake and drum brakes.

Advantages of Disc brake:
1. High stopping power.
2. Being located outside and in contact with air, they cool up easily as compared to drums.
3. Easy maintenance, no need to pull off the wheel.
4. ABS is fitted with some models.

Disadvantages of Disc brake:

1. Its more costly than drum.
2. They skid pretty hard during emergency braking in case of non-availability of ABS.
3. There are chances of damage to the brake fluid pipe causing brake failure.
4. needs proper regular maintenance.

Disadvantages of drum brake:
1.  Less stopping power (relatively less than disc)
2.  It can collect water and become weak.
3.  It heats up more quickly and brake fade occurs.

Advantages of drum brake:
1. The maintenance is easier.
2. Cheaper.
3. Skids less than disc brakes.

Now Which one suits you best??It depends on your riding style, experience, budget and skill.

If you are beginner, love to ride on moderate speed, does not need hard braking very much then 110cc scooters with both drum brakes are best for you. For more safety you can consider Integrated braking system.

If you love speed but skillful driver and does not need emergency braking frequently then Front Disc and rear drum should be your choice.

If you are speedster, need frequent hard braking then dual disc is for you.

For Most of the riders in Bangladesh Combined Disc and Drum brake should be enough and it is the Best.
