TVS XL 100: the mini rocket
Hi this is sadique again coming with review of another autogear bike, my mini rocket 'TVS XL 100'.
its my 5th autogear bike. previously I used UM powermax, Mahindra gusto, Italjet, and hero pleasure.
This is better be called, moped. scooter like function with the look of a motorcycle.
Look: purely basic in outlook. They did not put any extra emphasis on its look. but its not bad either. Many people are liking it now a days. That's why its the most sold bike in India, over 1 crore unit. from the front it looks like any cruiser motorcycle with the style of round headlight, long front fork with shock cover, long handle. much similar to the look of bajaj avenger from the front.
from side view preety similar to old generation honda cub or luna mopeds. there is a depression in between seat and tank. But if you add a front utility box, its look becomes extra ordinarily 'modern' and stylish. the color combination is awesome. mine is blue colored. but it also comes with gray and green option.
from back panel its looking purely classic style. broad seat with large tail light is much eye catching.
overall you wont find it much sporty. But its classic look will satisfy you.
Engine performance:
It bears 100cc automatic transmission engine. In a Word, Its fantastic. When I first started the engine it was so smooth but for 1st 500km it used to give too much vibration on speed above 40. but now its total vibration free. reaches top speed of 70km/hour.
But the thing it has is 'accleration' OMG!!!! its really a little rocket. apache, pulsar or even autogear scooters, nobody could match its acceleration. to my surprise it reaches its top speed in just 5 sec. Sometimes people say, where did you get this master piece?
fuel efficiency 65-70kmpl. may reach more after break in period.
An interesting feature is, it does not have any battery. Headlight, Horn aand all electricals are AC operated. No hassel on starting the bike in the morning.
Draw back is, it does not have any self starter. but with its butter smooth kicker u wont need self that much.
Handling and control:
weight only 85kg. perfect for its speed range. It can carry over 200kg load. handling and riding too much easy as its autogear bike. no need of clutch gear shifting.
suspension is its best part I say. little bike with no extra jerking due to its nicely designed suspension system. due to spoke wheel I found some balance problems but after tightening the spoke nuts the problem was solved.
wheel size 2.5-16 on both front and rear and tubed type. it would be nice if they could add aloy with slight wide tubeless tyres. But what more you can expect in 65000tk price?
both brakes are hand operated drum brake with enough bite. no complain here. tyres have very good grip on both dry and wet condition. on hard braking bike was stable and cornering performance was good.
its price only 65000tk. but utility is huge. it may not look very much stylish but you will fall in love after you ride it once in your life.
If you need a bike for daily use, don't like heavy maintenance, and like twist to go with quick accleration and need to drive on bad broken roads then TVS XL 100 is for you.
